what has my attention this year

I am co-founder and CTO of kscope, building the context layer between enterprise data and the agents that act on it.

Two other things have my attention. I am writing a book called AI is God, on what happens when the decisions that matter most stop being made by humans. And I build small tools that make public records legible, starting with how long approved housing sits unbuilt in Berkeley.

The thread through all three is the same: systems are making consequential decisions faster than anyone can see into them.

What happens when the most important decisions in human history are no longer made by humans?

AI is God explores the collision of artificial intelligence with philosophy, ethics, religion, and law, arguing that our moral language was built for human minds, not machines.

one civic system at a time

Public decisions leave public records, and almost nobody can read them. I build small tools that make one civic system legible at a time: housing, wildfire, education, healthcare.

wildfire one way out 138 places in berkeley reach the rest of the city through a single junction, with 15 miles of street behind them. type an address to see whether yours is one. built from the city's street network, fire zones, and hazard maps. housing the berkeley housing clock berkeley approves housing in about four months, then waits a year or more for anything to be built. built from state hcd reports, city parcel data, zoning board agendas, and ceqa filings.

Lived, worked, and studied in England, Ireland, Dubai, and Pakistan before Berkeley, by way of an MPhil at the University of Cambridge. Roughly a run through research, consumer apps, and heavy industry. Pro Spark Streaming came out of the research years, and the papers are on scholar if you want them.
